The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act has passed through parliament and become law.
The first measures under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act came into force on Monday 4th March 2024. Companies House has new and enhanced powers to improve the quality and reliability of its data and tackle misuse of the companies register. The act includes a provision to make businesses liable if they fail to prevent staff or a connected third party from committing an economic crime.
